Same here, went to the Cemetery and forced them to ball up on the way up there.
2 rits and a AoTL nec, I believe I was playing Earthshaker when I finally made it.

Did this quest on my sin HM and I just sat in the back of the cemetery, not on the top of the stairs. They had to come to me to get me. XD It was actually really easy. I used a UA monk, a RoJ monk, 1 shared burden Mes, 1 Ineptitude Mes, 1 E-Surge Mes, 1 AoTL Necro and 1 IV Healer Necro. Took me like 3 tries to realize that I don't have to move or anything. As soon as I started I activated the quest, run fast to the cemetery and just sat there, waiting for waves to come. Btw - I'm not an expert and I can't tell if those are optimal builds or not, but they worked for me. No cons used.

This one turned out pretty easy for me on HM, due to confused mobs. I took a first short stand right next to the teleporter near the beginning, the one that drops you close to the cemetery. When I started to get overwhelmed, I used the teleporter and ran for the back of the cemetery. Jinnai and Miku stayed behind, unable to find a path back to me. A lot of the mobs got stuck near the teleporter as well, even some new arrivals. Everytime Miku or Jinnai rezzed, a few of them found the path to me, because fighting Miku/Jinnai got them out of their stuck position. The mobs that never went near that place came for me straight, but with hardly any pressure to them.
I wonder if it's reproducable, or just a very lucky combination of circumstances.

Like i said somewhere else, the problem of this quest( and many others) is that it relies too much on luck...More Luck Mode than Hard Mode usually..
If you want to go to the cemetary, then it will depend on how much mobs get confused and on jinnai/miku reaction.. Sometimes all mobs will get on you for no reason, sometimes you will face more eles and get rolled in a matter of time( whether you have cons or not), sometimes mobs won't do anything...
The same with other quests, but after doing it on 4 chars, i'm still wondering if quests such as Haiju lagoon HM are doable in the fair way..

I am surprised with all the trouble people appear to have with this quest.
If you would actually read the quest log and ingame chat you would understand that this is not a swarm-me-until-I-die quest.
The Idea is to fight a bit, retreat into a trap made by Jinnai, move on to kill a next group, retreat into a trap before getting sandwiched, and repreat that 5-6 times until everything is dead.
It appears like everyone is making this harder then it has to be by trying to fight everything at once.

the first 5 times i did this quest i tryed this lol
thank you for the advise i usually dpn't read the quest and go lure everything like old 600 hp without 10 hit limit of spirit bond. ( sarcasm obv)
the problem is jinnai if he bring 200 enemy instead of 20 is a problem even if u go in every teleport and trap
i was even stucked couse jinnai was fighting alone and autorezzing for near 1 hour i had to lure them and obv they were too much >_>

Both times I succeeded at it (I failed many other times not doing this) I took the long route round to the cemetery so I had Jinnai with me, so ran up the stairs behind Jinnai and clockwise round the edge to the cemetery. That way you can also cut off a number of groups along the way which spawn along the way too, which hopefully means you have less come to you once you reach the cemetery.
It may just have been luck with the spawns that I managed it when I did it that way, but I hope it helps.
As for builds, I cannot remember what I used the first time, but the second time it was something along the lines of those posted here. You may also find Technobabble and / or Pain Inverter useful for dealing with AoE damage.

i started the dialogue then i use teleport and run on the opposite way of the graveyard near the closed door, there is a spwn point where u can kill 4-6 group after that follow the way on my U map and started using the teleport to kill just one enemy then teleport back heal ehile healing sometimes they find their way to your current location but only small group kill then repeat

I never actually had the opportunity to move at all between fights on my first attempt, they arrived quicker than I could kill them. I was fighting 3 groups before the first one was eliminated. And it only got worse until I wiped.
Granted, I only failed once in HM, and succeeded the second time by going to the cemetery. Maybe I just had a spawn with too many healers the first attempt and that's why I couldn't fight myself clear from where Jinnai starts. The thing is, if a strategy fails, my first idea is to try another strategy next time, not to do the same thing again and hope for an easier spawn. What can I say? The second strategy worked.

Finally completed this 2 IV necs, 1 atol nec, 1 sos rit, 1 st rit, 1 inept mes, 1 panic mes, me a dag spam war. No deaths in the group. The trick is to stay far back in the cemetary.

I tried a few different spots and failed. When I was at the cemetery I was fine for a few minutes because they just came in small groups, afterwards one massive group came which made me wipe.
I could somewhat cheese this mission by going completely to the back edge of the cemetery.
After a certain amount of mobs, they just stopped coming. When I went back down the stairs they started coming towards me again. I then went to the back edge of the cemetery again.
Eventually there was one group left at the closest spawn which didn't want to come, so I went there, killed them and finished the quest.

I used the cemetary. I was on my paragon, using Defensive Anthem, with 3 motivation paragons, an Orders Dervish, and 3 mesmers. It was tough, but its doable. Use yourself as a body block with a corner. Those are my exact tactics. May not work for all team builds though
